2012 Hot Summer Nights, Sizzlin’ Sounds of Summer
Come and enjoy the energy, activity and variety of performances coming for the hottest event of the year, the 2012 Hot Summer Nights Festival with resident Missouri Symphony Orchestra and a host of wonderful guests. In fact the whole Sizzlin’ Sounds of Summer 2012, will be entertainment at its best, from the music of the Beatles and George Gershwin to the mighty “Organ Symphony” and Bolero. Get tickets for your favorite kind of music, we have them all; and the beautiful Missouri Theatre is ready to welcome you to the most dazzling six weeks of Hot Summer Nights ever.

Saint-Saёns “Organ Symphony”
Saturday, June 16th, 7:30 p.m. at the Missouri Theatre
Saint- Saёns might “Organ Symphony,” featuring the beautiful Morton organ in the Missouri Theatre. La Muse et le Poete for violin, cello and orchestra and Smetana’s stirring tribute to the Czech people and their great river “The Moldau” are also on the program.
Amelia Piano Trio
Monday, June 25th, 7:30 p.m. at the Missouri Theatre
One of this country’s emerging young chamber music ensembles performs a recital of Beethoven, Mozart and Shostakovich. Acclaimed for their passion, energy and extraordinary musical unity.
100 Of the Best – CD Release Party and Concert
Thursday, July 5th, Party at 6:30 p.m., Concert at 7:30 p.m. at the Missouri Theatre
Maestro Trevor celebrates the release of his 100th CD with repertoire from the album. Joshua Pierce, internationally-acclaimed pianist appearing on the album, will play concertos by Bach and Bloch, and the orchestra plays Dvorak.
Dance With Me – Bolero & La Valse
Saturday, July 14th, 7:30 p.m. at the Missouri Theatre
A program inspired by dance including Weber’s Invitation to the Dance and two masterpieces by Ravel, La Valse and the red hot Bolero. Irina Muresanu, the brilliant Romanian violinist, is welcomed to Columbia to perform the Sibelius Violin Concerto.

A casual event for those who would go to concerts if the pieces weren’t so darn long. The Missouri Symphony Orchestra performs the best classics reduced to five minutes each. For the multi-tasker, there will be a sports trivia quiz during the concert.
