Show-Me Opera: Our Town
March 10 – 11, 2017

In Thornton Wilder’s play, the Stage Manager guides us through the lives of the people of 20th century Grover’s Corners, a small town in New Hampshire, as young George Gibbs courts and marries Emily Webb. In a truly poignant and stunning operatic setting, we see the circle of life, and we are reminded to appreciate all the small details in everyday life.

This opera was written in 2006 by Ned Rorem, with libretto by J. D. McClatchy. It is based directly on Thornton Wilder’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play. The opera was created with the direct permission of Tappan Wilder, Thornton Wilder’s nephew, and the executor of Wilder’s literary estate.

Ticket Prices: $20 for adults, $10 for children
